This Syrian Toddler Was Named After His Uncle. The War Killed Them Both.

This Huffington Post article is a saddening, powerful revelation of how the war in Syria continues to take away lives and tear down families. A 2-year-old boy was killed just last week in an airstrike that hit a busy local market. His mom just took him back from a nearby hospital to treat his cough. The family never expected a short stop-by would get their youngest one killed. It just shows how cruel war is as it indiscriminately slaughtered toddlers as well as young soldiers, striking every corner of the cities from groceries to hospitals……

But these ridiculous incidents have become an ordinary part of life of those who live in the war-torn areas. As the mother said in the interview, “Every day there is an attack on a market or a hospital. The situation goes from bad to worse. We are exhausted and terrified. Every day, we live in fear.”

The story didn’t end there. The toddler’s uncle, whom he was named after, was also killed in the war when it first started back in 2012. It really reminds us of how long this has been going on and that it’s really time to put a stop on it.

This reporting is truly a good one. It makes people care.

Again and again we are reminded that journalism that lasts is journalism that matters, that touches us, that captures our imaginations for good and bad and unclear reasons. Thanks for your post.
